Latvians are true-blue to their festival traditions marking seasonal changes. One of the key events in Riga is a Midsummer Festival also known as Summer Singing Fair. The second most popular is Latvian Song and Dance Festival held every five years.

A couple weeks ahead of the Midsummer Night, Riga residents and guests are invited to get in the mood of the celebration with various folklore group concerts, craft markets, lighting of the bonfire and enjoying Latvian National cuisine.
The craft market usually takes place on the Dome Square, located in the very heart of Riga city. This is the best place to get souvenirs, explore latvian traditions and taste local food.

The Annual Riga Opera Festival is one of the most popular and prestigious events hosted by the Latvia National Opera. It signifies the closing of the season and is usually held in June.

Each year in August the locals and visitors of Riga are entertained at a wide variety of the events in Riga's parks and gardens.

During Advent Riga's inhabitants and guests are invited to enjoy the charm of Christmas Time. The craft market grows on the Dome Square and lure everyone to taste some mulled wine and gingerbreads.
